Sarasota Big League … the Real Deal

In the Big League, teams are eligible to enter tournament competitions and play through tournament levels, all culminating to the World Series. All expenses for teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.

There are four divisions in the Big League – Freshman, Junior Varsity, Varsity and the Real Baseball Division, which helps 12 and 13 year olds get to the next level. For more information about the Big League, contact Tim Donohue.

Real Baseball Division

(Intermediate ages 12-13)

The Real Baseball Division is comprised of teams with 12 and 13 year old players and utilizes a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. Freshman (Junior) Division

(Junior ages 13-14)

Freshman Division, also known as the Junior Baseball Division, is comprised of teams with 13-14  year old players and utilizes the full-size high school field. This division offers players the assurance to participate in the League’s World Series.

Junior Varsity (Senior) Division

(Senior ages 14-16)

The Junior Varsity Division is designed to focus on providing a community level program which gives players the chance to compete in this League’s World Series. All expenses for teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.

Varsity (Big League) Division

(Big League ages 16-18)

The primary objective of the Varsity division is to provide players with the opportunity to stay involved in organized baseball while sharpening their skills with their own age group. Through tournament competitions, this division has the chance to play in the League’s World Series. All expenses for teams advancing to the World Series (travel, meals and housing) are paid by Little League International.
